SHANTOU, China, Nov. 30-Dec.1,2024 — The 7th China Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition was held this week, drawing over 1,000 delegates to explore sustainable community-driven initiatives. The event, themed “Empowering Youth, Serving Society”, included project exhibitions, expert workshops, and a national award ceremony.
Targeting migrant workers’ children aged 7–13, the Corporate-School Partnership for Left-Behind Children Care project addresses critical gaps in parental companionship and safety awareness among this vulnerable group. By pioneering an industry-academia collaboration framework grounded in Social Learning Theory, the initiative has established a structured “1-2-3-4” service system to systematically enhance children’s psychological and physical security.
Over seven years of implementation, the program has impacted over 1,500 migrant workers and 20,000+ children, while receiving more than 200 accolades in state media such as People’s Daily, underscoring its replicability and societal value.
Centered on “patriotic education for youth”, a parallel initiative transforms primary school students during pivotal developmental phases into “Red Youth Broadcasters”, embedding socialist values through experiential learning. This model reinforces ideological foundations while fostering national pride through creative storytelling and media engagement. The program has garnered over 100 features in authoritative platforms such as the China Youth Daily and the National College Ideological and Political Education Network, solidifying its role in shaping youth identity and collective consciousness.
During the event, Mr.Zhang Zhaohui, Party Committee Secretary of the Communist Youth League’s Volunteer Service Guidance Center, engaged with the School of Management delegation following their roadshow presentation and project defense sessions. He commended the team’s innovative approaches to community-driven initiatives and provided actionable recommendations to amplify their program’s social impact.
Co-hosted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the Central Social Work Department, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the competition drew1,001 volunteer service projects and 100 social entrepreneurship initiatives to its national finals after rigorous provincial and preliminary evaluations. Wuhan University of Technology’s entries spanned categories including disability support, child welfare, environmental conservation, and cultural tourism.
The School of Management consistently champions volunteerism as a cornerstone for nurturing youth in the new era. Upholding the spirit of “dedication, fraternity, mutual aid, and progress”, it empowers students to become pioneers in advancing Chinese modernization, contributing to the nation’s development with vigorousness and vision.
