Wuhan, China - October 26, 2025 - The School of Management at Wuhan University of Technology (WHUT) successfully convened an appraisal meeting for a key teaching reform achievement. The session evaluated the project titled “Four-Chain Integration and Three-Integration Synergy: Reform and Practice of Cultivating Transdisciplinary Excellence in Business Administration Talent from a New Liberal Arts Perspective”.

Held in Room 311 of the WHUT School of Management on the afternoon of October 26, the meeting was chaired by Liu Chunjiang, Deputy Secretary of the WHUT Party Committee, who delivered the opening remarks. An appraisal committee, chaired by Professor Wei Jiang, Party Secretary and President of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, oversaw the review. Committee members included Professor Xu Yude, Party Committee Member and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences; Professor Huang Minxue, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management at Wuhan University; Professor Zhang Longping, former Dean of the School of Accounting at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law; Professor Zhang Pengcheng from the School of Management at Huazhong University of Science and Technology; alongside industry experts Zhang Yuan, General Manager of China Construction Sixth Engineering Division Bureau Corp., Ltd. Hubei Branch, and Guo Pan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Department at Hubei Provincial Transportation Investment Group Co., Ltd. Project leader Professor Chen Xiaofang, Dean of the WHUT School of Management, Professor Zhang Guanglei, Vice Dean in charge of undergraduate education, and all project team members participated in the meeting.

Project leader Professor Chen Xiaofang presented a systematic report detailing the teaching achievement across multiple dimensions, including team development, talent cultivation, program enhancement, teaching practices, and social impact. To address persistent challenges in teaching, the project innovatively established a talent cultivation system deeply integrating the “education chain, innovation chain, talent chain, and industry chain”. It also proposed a collaborative education mechanism featuring the “integration of science and education, industry and education, and city and university”, effectively bridging the gap between theory and practice and cultivating numerous outstanding talents for related industries.
The appraisal committee reviewed Professor Chen’s report and examined supporting materials, followed by inquiries, discussions, and deliberations.

The expert panel unanimously concluded that the achievement closely aligns with the developmental needs of China's higher education and the objectives of cultivating business administration talent. Through years of theoretical research and practical exploration, it has successfully fostered the WHUT School of Management's distinctive talent cultivation model characterized by “Four-Chain Integration and Three-Integration Synergy”, driving disciplinary and program development and amplifying the national influence of WHUT's business administration talent cultivation. The panel noted the achievement features advanced concepts, systemic innovation, solid implementation, remarkable effectiveness, distinct characteristics, and significant value. For instance, during the project period, students won 116 awards in national-level competitions, and several programs were designated as national-level first-class undergraduate program construction sites. The panel recognized the achievement as domestically leading, providing a pioneering model for innovating transdisciplinary excellence cultivation in business administration at national engineering-focused universities, with substantial potential for demonstration and broad application.
The expert panel unanimously agreed to recommend the achievement for the Hubei Provincial Teaching Achievement Award.
